Two minutes after sliding into a booth at Gordon Ramsay’s restaurant in New York City’s London hotel, Victoria Justice announces she’s getting fish-and-chips and that we absolutely have to share the carrot cake for dessert. “It’s ridiculous!” she says, and leans back against the banquette. Even though she’s dressed in dark J. Brand jeans, a long gray tee from Express, and Steve Madden army boots, Victoria might as well be wearing a neon safety vest—this girl was born to stand out.

The seventeen-year-old, whom Perez Hilton anointed Teen Queen on his Web site in April, is gradually warming up to the new moniker, but she’s no overnight success. She started doing commercials at eight years old, and after guest stints on Gilmore Girls and The Suite Life of Zack & Cody, the actress landed a role as a series regular on Nickelodeon’s Zoey 101, which catapulted her into the spotlight. She has since become a proud alum: Her hit show, Victorious, in which she stars as Tori—a reluctant triple threat who ends up at a high school for the arts—has been routinely trumping Disney favorites like Hannah Montana and Wizards of Waverly Place. Victoria Justice was very shy on her first day of school after moving from Florida to California. Victoria, who just 12, revealed in the new issue of J-14: ‘I was just so excited, so much adrenaline was running through me. I was so young and so ready to start working and have new experiences. I was just really ready to go.’

It was a huge difference. I grew up in Florida all my life, I had all of my friends, and I was so used to living there. I knew absolutely no one in Los Angeles. I had no friends at first, and it’s a scary thing not knowing anybody and having to basically start over. It’s kind of intimidating, but you get over it. I loved going to school and making new friends, and I still love meeting new people all the time.’

J-14 was psyched to hang out with Victorious star Victoria Justice today in Edgewater, New Jersey, where we had a picnic at a park overlooking New York City and the George Washington Bridge! It was a gorgeous day, and Victoria had a ton of fun eating Mexican food (including guacamole, a buffalo chicken salad, and a cheesecake chimichanga), listening to Lady Gaga and Vampire Weekend tunes off her iPhone, and posing for pics along the Hudson River.

Victoria also answered a ton of J-14 reader questions — we found out if she’d ever kiss Justin Bieber, what it was like getting a tweet from Joe Jonas, if she’s still friends with Taylor Lautner, and who her biggest role model is (hint — she’ll be celebrating Mother’s Day with her very soon!). “Victorious” star Victoria Justice dishes with Zap2it on the set of Nickelodeon’s newest hit series during the final day of shooting for the first season. So what secrets did V.J. spill?

We met Victoria on the set of “Karaoke Dokie,” the teen-friendly club on the show. Behind us was the set for Hollywood Arts, the performing arts high school the characters attend. The mural created by the brightly painted lockers was especially fun, which Victoria told us is one of her favorite parts of the set.

So what’s “Victorious” all about anyway?

“I play a girl named Tori Vega who goes to this performing arts high school called Hollywood Arts, and it’s kind of the coolest school in the entire world, I think,” Victoria explains. “It’s super artsy and there’s graffiti on the walls and all the lockers are customized. … It’s just about a normal girl who’s trying to fit in and loves singing and dancing and acting, trying to work things out and discover herself.”

We pressed Victoria for some deets on what we could look forward to this season on “Victorious.” She tells us, “I get to dress up as some really bizarre characters … step out of my comfort level a little bit. I love being weird and goofy and creating my own characters and not just playing the normal high school girl.”

She also teases, “There’s some hot guys on the show, there’s some kissing. My favorite part is we have really cool musical performances. It’s all original music, which I love. And the music is going to be available on iTunes afterwards.”

“What makes me unique? The fact that I’m half Puerto Rican, and I think that a lot of TV shows and a lot of role models that kids have usually aren’t Hispanic. And I think it’s really cool that I can represent that sort of melting pot. I think that Latina girls and even guys need to be able to look up to someone who’s similar to them on TV, and I think thats really cool that I could be able to do that and that they can relate to me.”
